Pasadena Ronald McDonald House
The Pasadena Ronald McDonald House is starting a Student Leadership Board. The Student Leadership Board (SLB) is a group of committed young people who create meaningful avenues of support for children and families who stay at the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House. SLB members will learn and experience first-hand the different shapes that philanthropy can take by participating in structured activities that help them give of their time, talent and treasure. Operating as a team and focused on a goal larger than themselves, members will engage in meaningful service and fundraising activities while learning about the needs of a non-profit agency which will prepare them for future philanthropy or board service for charitable organizations.
The organization is looking for students who are 16 years and older and are willing to commit to SLB for the entirety of the school year. Interested students should email Mr. Duran for an application. It is due by September 28, 2018. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by October 5. Once the students have been accepted into the program, the next step is to attend the first meeting, scheduled to be held on Monday, October 8 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. This meeting is mandatory for all Student Board members, unless there is a prior mandatory engagement.

A friendly attitude and willingness to help are the only requirements.
The Altadena Library is seeking a volunteer who can come on Tuesday nights at 6:00pm to help set up for our Chess Night and possibly stay to help introduce chess to beginners, as well as, play with intermediate and advanced players.
