Religion Department Philosophy
The courses taught within the Religion Department at St. Francis High School are designed to educate our students about the Catholic faith, what it means to be a Catholic and how one should live out their faith. The Religion Department teaches to the core curriculum mandated by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in the document Doctrinal Elements of the Curriculum Framework for the Development of Catechetical Elements for Young People of High School Age.
We understand that many students at St. Francis come from non-Catholic and in some cases non-Christian backgrounds. We regard this diversity as a source of strength, and view our role as affirming their religious heritage while inviting all students to learn about our Catholic faith, how we live our faith, our Church and practices. We hope to encourage all students in their spiritual development.
