The Golden Knight varsity soccer team will once again challenge itself with one of the tougher schedules in Southern California. This year's squad, led by senior captains Thomas Banks, Paul Dean, and Austin Frank, will take on CIF Division I semi-finalists St. John Bosco and West Torrance, CIF State Regional Champion Santa Barbara, and CIF quarterfinalists Santa Monica and Crescenta Valley before embarking on the highly competitive Mission League schedule.

     

      The Golden Knights will feature a strong senior class that includes four returning midfielders from last year's CIF quarterfinalist team. The Knights will also travel to the San Diego area for the Nike High School Showcase for the fourth time.

 

      Coach Appels, who begins his twenty-third year at the helm of the varsity squad, is excited about his team's chances: "We have a strong senior class with some outstanding leaders who are eager to make their final season with us their best."

 

      Joining Coach Appels and his assitants, Juan Fontenla '93 and Luke Postlewaite '03, is former team captain and Golden Knight standout Andy Burghdorf '00.
