2011 PREVIEW
Head football coach Jim Bonds enters his 12th season at St. Francis and is highly optimistic about the 2011 team. "We play in one of the toughest leagues in Southern California, but I believe this team is up to the challenge."
Bonds knows this year's team, loaded with senior class experience, will work hard and compete every day. "We expect to have 17 returning starters - all seniors - and they, along with the entire team, have the work ethic, physicality and mental toughness to compete for the Mission League title and CIF Western Division Championship."
The 2011 schedule is tough and includes non-league visits to Arcadia and Venice as well as league games at Serra, Chaminade and St. Paul. The home schedule features non-league opponents Crescenta Valley, West Ranch (Hall of Fame) and Paso Robles, and league rivals Harvard Westlake (Homecoming) and Cathedral. "Lots of great teams, and new opportunities every week," says Coach Bonds.
This years honorary GOLDEN KNIGHTS include Luke Anderson, Austin De Los Santos, Kristion Grbavac, Ryan McAleenan and Travis Talianko. "Once again, our players selected a great group of leaders," Bonds said. "These are five impressive young men who provide great leadership for the entire St. Francis Football program, on and off the field."
After a long off-season, Coach Bonds and staff are ready for kick-off. "We are anxious to transition from the necessary hard work of summer football into the real season."
2011 shapes up to be an exciting season of Golden Knights Football. Please come out and support the football program.
