2007-2008 Basketball Preview
Coming off a solid summer performance, including a championship at The Best of The West Tournament, the 2007-2008 St. Francis Golden Knight basketball team seems poised for a solid season.
“We have a great mix of youth and experience; some real good shooters, quality ball handlers, and solid post play.” “We also have a good deal of depth, and quickness,” stated head coach John Jordan.” “If we work hard, and stay healthy, this could be an interesting year.”
“With our depth, practices will be very competitive, which will help every body get better.” “We could play as many as 12 or 13 players a game, simply because we have that many players who can make solid contributions.” “With our quickness we will be able to pressure teams all over the floor defensively; “I am really looking forward to the season”, added Coach Jordan.
Seniors, John Aranda, Kevin Bessolo, Pat Degnan, Al Ortega, TJ Parris, Brian Simpson, and Steve Vargas, all return from last years team, give the team a wealth of experience. Aranda, and Bessolo, will be participating in their third year at the varsity level. Seniors guards Eric Traba and Michael Campagna are up from last years JV unit.
Junior Malik Speed, a starter on last years team will be joined by junior Brandon Ruggles, up from last years JV team, and junior Spencer Stephens, who played on the freshmen team two years ago.
Though only sophomores, Coltrane Powdrill, Michael Perkins, Thomas Jordan, and Dietrich Riley, all have a chance to help this years’ team have a strong season. |
