Retreats
Each school year, students are required to attend a faith-building retreat experience. St. Francis' retreat program is progressive in that it builds one on the others. With prior permission, parish retreats are acceptable to meet this requirement, however, it is recommended that students take advantage of the retreats offered internally. All of these retreats are organized and directed by a team of adults, as well as student leaders who work as peer ministers to their fellow classmates.
FRESHMEN A day with Francis This one day retreat experience introduces St. Francis, and the religion program's biography of St. Francis, The Journey and the Dream. Francis' spirituality and his vowed life are explored within the context as single lay Catholic/Christians.
SOPHOMORE Discipleship This full day retreat focuses on our brotherhood in Christ and St. Francis. Amidst the struggles and challenges that come with accepting the call of Christ, a student furthers his understanding of what it means to be disciple of Christ and a brother to all.
JUNIORS Believe The Believe retreat is a three-day, two nights journey of Faith that centers on the Paschal Mystery-Christ's death and resurrection. Using this mystery of faith and faith story of St. Francis, a student comes to further appreciate and emulate this great act of Christ's love in his faith journey.
SENIORS Kairos Seniors participate in a four day, three night experience of God, self, and others. This retreat, which embodies the essence of Franciscan theology, God becoming a human being, is peer ministry based (seniors and graduates), and involves parental support throughout the experience. Kairos synopsizes experientially what has been taught theoretically in the religion classes.
