Last year, in our first season since 1997, we opened our swim team to any students currently on a year-round club swim team. It was a successful first attempt--we qualified for CIF in two individual events and one relay.
This year, we've opened our swim team to all students and have 20 young men on the team. Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy has graciously allowed us to practice at their pool this year. We'll compete at both the Varsity and Junior Varsity level in the Mission League. In addition to those league meets, we have been invited to meets against Pasadena Poly, La Canada HS, and a meet with a team that is traveling from Colorado.
Our JV team is lead by Aidan Marick '18 (Captain), who, along with several other students, joined the swim team after our successful water polo season in the Fall. We also have a handful of new and experienced young swimmers who are excited to start competitions.
On the varsity team, we've returned 75% of last year's CIF qualifying relay--Gabriel Azabache '17, Noah Hirshon '18 (Captain) and Michael Humphrey '18 (Captain). I anticipate that all three of those swimmers will qualify for CIF in individual races this year. Additional speed and leadership come from Roman Inguanzo '19 and Elijah Havens '17, who will help us qualify the relays for CIF.
