One of the hallmarks of the Capuchin Franciscan community has always been a strong spirit of family. To further this end, St. Francis established the Family Service Program. This was designed for a two-fold purpose, namely, to help parents get to know one another and to help the school by drawing upon their talents and resources. Each family is required to provide twenty-five hours of service or specified supplies to the school. These service hours are to be performed by parents. Projects and school needs will be published monthly in the Family Service Bulletin. At year-end, participation of less than twenty-five hours will be billed at a rate of $20 per hour. Unpaid balances will be billed to your tuition account. Service hours for senior parents must be completed by April 27, 2018. All other parents have a deadline of April 30, 2018. Students will not be allowed to participate in graduation or take quarter or semester exams if tuition or other fees are in arrears.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ABOUT THE ST. FRANCIS FAMILY SERVICES PROGRAM
What is required?
Each family is required to fulfill 25 hours of service or an equivalent in kind of donated materials. This program seeks to involve all families in the many service activities at St. Francis. Families electing to "buy out" their service hour commitment may do so at the rate of $20 per hour or $500 for the upcoming school year.
How do I sign up for an activity?
All volunteer opportunities (Mother's Guild, Booster Club, Development Department, Counseling Office, etc.) will be listed on the SFHS website on the Family Service Program page in the Links section. Each link listed connects to a Sign Up Genius for qualified FSP volunteer opportunities. It is the parents' responsibility to check for opportunities on the Links page and sign up for the desired shift(s). New opportunities, as they become available, will be added/updated every Tuesday after 6pm. Please contact the Family Service Coordinator at extension 922 if you have any questions.
How will my services be credited?
Sign-up sheets will be available at the time of the event/shift parents have signed up to work. Each parent volunteering must sign in and sign out to receive credit for hours worked. When purchasing supplies for FSP hours, please turn in a receipt with parent's name on the receipt. For baked goods, volunteer coupons are available at the reception desk in the Front Office. Hours will be totaled throughout the year and a balance of hours will be determined in May. Any hours that remain unfulfilled will be billed at $20 per hour.
What if I work over 25 hours in a year?
We recognize that many activities require support from parents beyond the 25 hour minimum. Parents may "bank" up to an additional 25 hours.
How does this relate to my Annual Fund Pledge, POSH and other Fundraising?
The financial base of St. Francis is built upon tuition and fees. However, tuition and fee revenue does not cover all of the goals that our Board has set forth in our strategic plan. It is intended that those goals will be addressed by your participation in our Annual Fund Pledge Program. Family Service hours will not cover your obligation to support any Development Department programs.
